However, we made the most of our luxury hotel and got to know each other. We were also able to take advantage of good lighting and updated all of our family and friends on our delay! Once we finally arrived in Canada, and after some team members overcame the shock of their first flight, we were whisked away to whale watching. It was an amazing experience for us all! We were not disappointed and our guides were excellent. However, amazing as it was, several of us still managed to have a jet-lag nap! Our first Hockey match was a slight shock to say the least, as we were playing Provincial level players, but as it was our first game we stayed positive and persevered! Vancouver was great, with cooling weather in the morning and, of course, blistering heat when we played Hockey! In our second game we did well and came together as a team. Getting to know the other team was really nice and so we chatted and answered the many odd questions we were asked, representing the UK with flair! In Vancouver we also had the chance to go to a baseball game and experience a part of the culture and enjoyed every moment (especially the fast food and fireworks!). After Vancouver we moved to Kelowna on a WiFi bus about which many of us were overjoyed! A week into the tour and we still hadn’t played a netball match, but we had trained hard and we were ready. However our first match came as a bit of a shock and we were sadly defeated by a very talented team, but we took it in our stride to help us progress onto our next match. All played well and we came back in the second half of the game. The second Netball game in Kelowna is one many will never forget. Playing against a mixed team was definitely interesting and the Henry’s girls represented exceptionally. After gaining a fantastic lead in the first quarter the opposition made some key changes and we were sadly beaten again. We all made a valiant effort, especially Ria Sanghera who was up against a 6ft 5in Canada toUr 70 | the Coventrian
