There was some excellent playing all round from Brass Players from King Henry VIII School who performed solos and duets competing against each other and other children from the wider area on Sunday 19th June. Their support for each other was also highly commendable. Results - all students came away with a top 3 place and medals 1st places to Arvin Sanghera and Daniel Honey in their classes 2nd places to Jacob Oxtoby and Dharma Muthalagappan 3rd places to Ralph Gawthorpe and George Gawthorpe for solos and their duet and for Matthew Pandya and Daniel Brennan’s duet WoodWind Lucy Stewart and Meah Dhami both came away with prizes too on the clarinet. Under 13 1st place Meah Dhami Grade 5 and 6 class Joint first place Lucy Stewart and Meah Dhami piano Jacob Oxtoby, as well as his prizes on trumpet, also achieved 1st place in the grade 5-6 Baroque piano class Dharma Muthalagappan achieved the following awards on Piano on top of his trumpet awards The Orpheus Challenge Cup 16 and under any one piece Grade 7 and 8 The Paul Baker Trophy (2012) Any one piece in dance or march, Grades 5 to 8 level The Gradus ad Parnassum Trophy Any virtuoso piece or study, Grades 5 to 8 Matthew Pandya as well as his Trumpet duet award, came 2nd in the piano 16 and under class. Chloe Chung, also in year 10, came 3rd in the same class as well as being placed in several other classes. Well done to all who took part. The music department hopes it was a valuable performing experience and nice to play outside of the school environment. Carmina BUrana 25th JUne, 2016, Coventry Cathedral JUSt a WonderFUl Big Sing! The following students gave of their very best in a huge concert which took place at Coventry Cathedral. Our accompanying Orchestra were, no less, The Young People’s Orchestra from San Francisco, USA, who combined with the University of Warwick Chorus.
