She talked to us about her work and about creativity. We produced small individual collage pieces based on her style which we later formed into one piece of collaborative art. It was very interesting to have a professional artist come and teach us different techniques that we would not normally come across. It was different to all be working on small pieces that were all unique to each person but could come together to create a larger piece of work, created with individuals’ works, that looked amazing. The artist taught us that our collages were an expression of ourselves and that we should choose words that were close to our hearts or important to us to add to our work. In the lessons we had to think about what colours would work together and represent different feelings. We also had the opportunity to work with different materials that would create different textures. Overall it was a very enjoyable and interesting experience and we would love for her to return to teach us again.” Grace Brennan and Aoife Anson-O’Connell -Year 8 “When the artist came in she taught us that in her work it is important to be creative and to use different textures. This was very useful because she also taught us to use the equipment and tools to create the image. She also came round when we were working on our pieces encouraging us to choose colours that would harmonise.” Ella Caine & Grace Collett –7AS 2015 to 2016 | 49
