The game was played under lights on the cold Monday night due to a rearrangement of the fixture due to a waterlogged pitch earlier in the year. Henry’s emerged 12-0 winners after a dominating performance throughout the match, and some solid and well drilled defending. The pressure in the early knockings of the game went to Bablake, but Henry’s saw it out. Then in the 7th minute, a penalty, taken smartly by Henry’s was worked into a try from a brilliant run from Ben Kirby and then converted by Charlie Adams to make it 7-0 to King Henry VIII School. Henry’s piled on the pressure from there and in the 17th minute a line out led to a brilliant breakaway and Jamie Nicolson scored the try making it 12-0. Unfortunately this time the try wasn’t converted, so 12-0 it remained. The only remaining highlight from the feast of the first half was in the 20th minute, as a scuffle emerged on the far touchline, ending in Bablake’s number 5 being shown a straight red for violent conduct, this was an unfortunate act in a game that was otherwise played in good spirit. And so the teams went in at half time with the scoreline at King Henry VIII School 12-0 Bablake. The second half constantly followed a pattern of the teams cancelling each other out with good defending, the highlight of which was a certain Bablake try being stopped by a sensational Henry’s tackle in the 55th minute. Off the pitch, the second half was made fantastic by Mr Huxford’s constant yelling at the team, and his son and captain, Adam. Luckily, Mr Huxford’s yelling was yelling of happiness at the final whistle, as the team and fans alike celebrated with joy as the team was handed the Hibbert shield on a successful night for Henry’s. henry’s vs bablaKe 28 | The CovenTrian
